Plater: Identifying Priority Adds

Have you ever been in an encounter that had a lot of adds and had to prioritize one of them? There is a lot of ways you can optimize prioritizing the specific add: macro buttons, WeakAuras, etc.

In this post I thought I’d share with you a way to highlight priority adds using the Plater nameplate addon.

Over the past few weeks, our guild has been working on the Mythic Council of Blood encounter. For those who has been a part of this encounter, you’ll be aware of the adds that accompany the 2nd and 3rd phases.

These adds can make it relatively difficult to spot the priority adds: Dutiful Attendant and Veteran Stoneguard. In an effort to help alleviate some of the noise that comes along with this encounter, I put together some Plater scripts to try and help.

This is the first of those additions that will highlight the Dutiful Attendant and Veteran Stoneguard nameplates for you in order to make them more visible.

To start, identifying the Dutiful Attendant can be tricky while all the waiters and bosses are up towards the end of Phase 2 and throughout Phase 3. This scripting addition will simply add an animations around the Dutiful Attendant and Veteran Stoneguard nameplates to help you identify them.

Here is the effect that will be applied to the nameplate for these two mobs while you are in the Council of Blood encounter.

It’s important to keep in mind that in the future, you could use this same technique for any mobs throughout the game. If there is an add that you need to take priority over everything else, you can simply come to this same place and enter in the name or the unit id of the mob to apply this highlight effect.

In order to accomplish this you effect, you’ll need to open up the Plater options by typing in /plater to bring up the options interface.

After that you’ll want to navigate to the Scripting tab (1). Then on the left hand side you’ll scroll down towards the bottom to find “Unit - Important [Plater]” (2). Then you’ll be able to enter in two Unit ID values (3). Here is a screenshot to help you identify the areas mentioned …

The Unit ID values that you will want to enter into the textbox are 175992 for the Dutiful Attendant and 169924 for the Veteran Stoneguard.
