My Mythic+ PUG Tanking Journey

I wanted to document my journey leveling a tank who mostly PUGs through Mythic+. And I also wanted to look at data to see just how bad I was at tanking … or just how bad (or difficult) it is tanking in Mythic+.

So I started keeping a spreadsheet of every Mythic+ group that I tanked for to have some actual data. I mostly wanted to see if there was anything interesting about the data other than the obvious carries or high ilvl groups.

World of Warcraft - Add-on Anchoring

Today we’re going to take a look at a feature that a lot of add-ons support called “Anchoring.” Anchoring is the ability to tie multiple user interface frames together to form a single cohesive frame that will move together. What this provides you is the ability to move one single frame and have other frames stay in the same position relative to the “anchor” frame.

Building an Auto-Dismount WeakAura

A guildie of mine, named Druid, who ironically plays a Demon Hunter, suggested that I build a WeakAura that dismounts you whenever you speak to the Flight Master.

This obviously sounds strange, but it’s actually a great suggestion. The reason is that there is currently a bug in the game where some classes, Demon Hunter’s especially, will get disconnected if we take flight path’s while we are mounted. It’s extremely frustrating and the WeakAura that we’re going to build should help reduce the amount of times we get disconnected.

Painsmith Raznal: Spiked Ball Marker

Recently our guild has been progressing on Heroic Painsmith Raznal; which is fine and well. But this isn’t a post on the specifics of that fight.

There is a specific ability in the fight called Spiked Balls, where Raznal will summon a wall of Spiked Balls. The goal of this mechanic is to have the DPS focus down a single ball to break a “hole” in the wall for everyone to go through. it’s a fairly straight forward mechanic.

Mythic: Council of Blood ☠️

And another one down, another one down … another one bites the dust.

I didn’t start mythic raiding until pretty late into the Shadowlands release. So by the time I started with a group, the first 5-6 bosses were already on farm. And I haven’t raided at a semi-hardcore level since early Legion. Needless to say, it has been a long while since I’ve had a progression kill. So I thought I’d share my happiness with a quick update.

As someone who hasn’t done progression raiding since early Legion, this fight was a lot of fun. It was challenging on a lot of different levels. And I really enjoyed that rush you get from finally getting a difficult boss down.

Plater: Identifying Priority Adds

Have you ever been in an encounter that had a lot of adds and had to prioritize one of them? There is a lot of ways you can optimize prioritizing the specific add: macro buttons, WeakAuras, etc.

In this post I thought I’d share with you a way to highlight priority adds using the Plater nameplate addon.
